Everyone knows people like to gather and hang out in a kitchen. So we made it the center of the space. The mother of a former tenant helped design it and chose the color scheme. Thus, we ended up with a kitchen a mother could love! (No stove unfortunately. Fire codes would have required special vents and fire suppression that would cost the same as a second kitchen!)

Most tenants, make their way to the kitchen for a cup of coffee or tea, once or twice, during the day or sit at a cafe table and have lunch with colleagues. We also hold regular luncheon social events, not only to introduce new faces, but to encourage everyone to take time out and make the time, for some fun, light-hearted conversation while noshing on some delicious food treats, from various local area restaurants. (Cambridge is a foodie paradise!)

Since the redesign of BCS used space from two bays in the building, there was an issue to overcome - an 8" difference in the slab height. The solution a raised kitchen, a rolling bar that works fine from either side - Outside seating uses bar stools, inside kitchen area uses chairs)

Now that our two volunteers have moved the roll-away bar out of the way, the space is converted to it's party,  (I mean) presentation position. Thus, an instant AUDITORIUM, for evening or weekend events.
 

In the photo above, you can see the blue curved wall, which is the back of the spiral staircase, that leads to the second floor loft area. John, our landlord, designed the stairwell as part of a previous build out, and is often seen in his office next door, sitting at his computer designing spaces.

The photo below is the view from the top of the stairs, looking over the low wall of the loft area, to the open floor plan work space on the other side of the stairwell. (We have recently reconfigured the space below and made some furniture changes..)

If you prefer a more traditional office, with solid doors, we have some of those as well.

The previous tenants ran a huge national web server right here. Want to start your own little Google? There is enough power and air conditioning (and fiber) to handle a small country. (Maybe even a medium size one.). We have enough bandwidth to cover most applications.  You will not be without the internet here.
